UNHURRY WITH RACHNA: THE VALENTINE POEM

Love is not the conquest of being one with another

It is about celebrating each other’s differences

And admiring each other’s energies

When I am me and you are you

And we give each other the space to be me and to be you

That is when love flourishes

That is when love flourishes

Don’t get gender into this

Don’t get societal conditioning into what is my role and what is your role

Stand up to be the equal partner

And make your spouse as equal

When I am me and you are you

And we give each other the space to be me and to be you

That is when love flourishes

Equal doesn’t mean you “allow” them to do what is rightfully theirs

Equal doesn’t mean that you “give them permission” for what any human being should hold it as their right

Equal means that you respect, make them feel worthy, make them feel loved

Equal means when you give them the space to flower into their own

Without making it seem like a favour

When you create circumstances for me to be me and you to be you

And we give each other the space to be me and to be you

That is when love flourishes

Kindness should never be killed by ego

Compassion should never be killed by pride

Love should never be killed by social conditioning

If you can’t face the world with your brave love

If you fear what people will say because you’re kind

Then stay on the side and acknowledge defeat

Because your soul is not strong enough to face the false conditioning of society

And your love is not strong enough to fight it

In those circumstances, step away

Let me be me and you be you

And let love flourish without us being together

We will still make a better world

Than fight every day and cry every night
