“The best protection any woman can have is courage.”

Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Annually we honour ourselves proudly on March 8, but forget to do that the other 364 (this year 365) days a year. I can proudly say that the Unhurry®️ team has had an extremely blissful month of celebrating women, publishing unique science backed stories and learning of their many facets.

Here I put down what I take with me from all the content we’ve published:

Work life balance is underrated: Ever spent long days at work on a project? Have you ever taken on more work than your capacity? Have you delegated work to your colleagues only to do it all by yourself? Well, the only result is you end up exhausted and certain things may STILL be out of your control. Remember, your work is a PART of your life, not your whole life. Don’t be a superwoman, at work or at home. We have research highlighting what long work hours can do to a woman’s quality of life.

If the body is agile, the mind is agile: We are mindful of the influence exercise has on our mental and physical health, yet so many of us rank movement as the last thing on our verrrry long to-do list and get anxious about it. Guess what? Science says that exercise doesn’t have to be a punishment, if we just view it differently. Find a moderate form of movement YOU enjoy, so that you start looking forward to that time of the day. It could be anything – dancing, a walk in the park, cycling, swimming, yoga or playing a sport. This way, you’ll have a ME time, have fun, feel energetic, be happier and reap the complete benefits of exercising.

Food can reduce ageing: We have a complicated relationship with food. There are instances we crave and indulge in dishes. And then there are other occasions where we abstain from eating due to the fear. That’s the effect food has on our lives. We don’t focus as much on the healing impact of food. There’s a reason there’s so much conversation about eating clean and right for a better quality of life. You can actually eat your food to reduce ageing, that should be great incentive to embrace food! I know and I learnt the hard way that eating the right foods healed my PCOS and fibromyalgia. Let’s learn to allow food to nourish and nurture us and not overthink each meal.

Self-confidence matters: When a loved one is stressed, we jump to the rescue because we’re so assured of their capabilities and potential, but we struggle to believe in ourselves. Time and again, we retell the stories of inspiring women and how their decisions are making the world a better place. And our priority of our confidence is still supremely low. Why the dichotomy? Your biggest cheerleader, your companion, your critic and your support in life first and foremost is YOU. So, spend time with yourself each day, appreciate you and be aware of your power. Working on your self-confidence is a daily effort. And, trust me it’s worth it because it’s how you understand yourself best.

I’m sure whatever is written above seems familiar. Now it’s time to enforce it consistently. This is your life, you are the author of your story – make it count. Don’t wait for a just ONE day to commemorate yourself, because that’s what your whole life is for.
