World Autism Awareness Day: Empowering Families through the ‘Pay Autention’ Initiative

As the world observes World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, the conversation around neurodiversity is shifting from mere awareness to active acceptance and empowerment. A significant driver of this change is the collaborative initiative between the Kindness Practice Foundation and Tata Power’s ‘Pay Autention’ program, which has been conducting specialized therapy and training camps across India to support families living with autism.

A “Phygital” Ecosystem for Holistic Care

The partnership focuses on a “phygital” (physical + digital) ecosystem designed to provide early support and holistic care. While the broader Pay Autention network has already reached over 18,000 families as of late 2025, the collaboration with Kindness Practice Foundation targets specific, high-impact outcomes through direct interventions in cities like Mumbai and Bangalore.

Empowering Parents: ‘The Key Is YOU

A cornerstone of the program is parent therapy, recognizing that a child’s progress is deeply linked to the well-being of their primary caregivers. Workshops such as “The Key Is YOU” in Mumbai have helped parents move from “panic to clarity”.

Innovative Child Therapies

The camps also provide direct therapeutic interventions for children, utilizing creative outlets to enhance development.

Innovative Child Therapies

In Bangalore, the focus shifted to Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and vocational skill training.

The Path Ahead

The Kindness Practice Foundation and Tata Power plan to expand this impact throughout 2026. Future goals include:

By bringing autism support into mainstream media and providing families with practical, home-based tools, this collaboration is ensuring that kindness leads the way toward a more inclusive society.
